New Beginning

img_1370.JPG

So Wednesday night was the last public workout at the traditional “CrossFit HQ or CrossFit Santa Cruz”.  This place has alot of sentimental value for many of us who called Reasearch Park Drive our home for many years.  Alot has changed, but one thing remains, the commmunity, that Coach and Lauren started here, continues to grow not only in Santa Cruz but throughout the world.  Much more was forged here besides elite fitness… friendship, comraderie, respect, memories and admiration also come to mind.  We now have Santa Cruz triangulated, and collectively we can continue on the path laid before us.

To Coach and Lauren, we thank you, none of this would be possible without your vision.

So the big guy trying to conceal his identity here, just had a birthday.  The big guy has come along way since last summer and has proven himself to be one of the most dedicated CrossFit junkies around.  Hope you had a great birthday Steve.

30 db push press, 30 paralette pass throughs, run 400

20 db push press, 20 paralette pass throughs, run 400

10 db push press, 10 paralette pass throughs, run 400

Due to a miscommunication, the first 4 names in green were scored differently on their pass throughs than the rest of the classes.  This brings up an excellent opportunity to reiterate the fact that, intensity is not determined by a scoring system or a rep scheme on a white board, but by the intestinal fortitude our athletes pour into every workout.  You are all an amazing group, and it’s a joy to watch you all push each other into new levels of fitness.

CPR

img_1264.JPG

Better to have and not need, than need and not have.  If you have not learned CPR, I would encourage you to sign up for a class and get educated, there is a lot of new research out there that suggests that if CPR is administered within the first few minutes the chances of survival increase to 85%.  Statistics also show that you are most likely to administer CPR on a family member or friend and in most cases an infant or child.

Special thanks should go to our instructers Todd and Josh for taking the time to come and instruct us, we actually had a great time.
