yellow bamboo fail

This one has been around a while. It’s still funny, in this day and age you would think that people with access to all the technology around us would be able to catch at least one episode of MythBuster’s. What’s sad is that people pay hard earned money to be taught this. I guess it’s true, there’s a sucker born every minute.

As a recent convert to a more Paleo way of eating, you may be interested in HR 875. Opponents of the bill are claiming it would outlaw Organic Farming. I couldn’t find anything that said this but as they say follow the money……………

And a big Happy Birthday to longtime early morning buttkicker Annie.

dude where’s my car

Haven’t posted one of these in a while. I really don’t know what to say, I would like to think that I would notice my car driving away on it’s own. How do you explain this to Geico? Do you tell all your buddies or make up some wild story involving alien abduction?

new technique

So after trying the hang clean/rope climb WOD today from the main site a couple days ago, it occurred to me that I need to find a better way to mount the rope that will enable me to be higher on the rope when I have to start to climb it. I’m quite sure JDogg will in 100% agreement on this. I still don’t know if it will be enough to catch Dave Castro.

Training the Injured Athlete with Kelly Starrett of CrossFit San Francisco. Because of his in depth knowledge of the foundational movements in CrossFit, KStarr is probably the best source of information regarding PT available to the CrossFit Community. His easy teaching style and sharp wit make this seminar a must for any trainer using the CrossFit methodology.

Tonight we said farewell to 2 of the best people you will ever meet. It’s late so I don’t have time to hunt for photos, but I cannot put into words the impact Zac and Heather have had not only on me but for all who come in contact with them. I remember when they first walked into the old HQ with bold confidence yet completely humble. With their infectious smile and warm demeanor you were drawn in and felt as though they were lifelong friends. Over the past few years that is exactly what they have become. As they start this new chapter of their lives we wish them all the best that life has to offer because nobody deserves it more.
We love you both and look forward to some cheap airfare and frequent visits.

This video was originally posted yesterday, but due to tragic events I postponed it until today.

RIP MASK

mask-tapout

It is impossible to think about the sport of MMA without also thinking about the brand “Tapout”. Their brand possibly more than any other has contributed to the growth and popularity of the sport. Charles “Mask” Lewis was one of the founders of Tapout and one of MMA’s biggest fans. As news of his untimely death began pouring out today so did stories of random generosity and a genuine care for those less fortunate than him. While he may have had a rough and loud persona, there was a man inside who had a passion for a sport he loved and a deeper passion for brightening the lives of people around him.

RIP Charles “Mask” Lewis

Hopper WOD - 2007 Games

As many of you now know, this WOD is brutal. You are not alone in that thought, this video was from the Inaugural CrossFit Games. There are a lot of awesome athletes in that video, Speal, AFT,OPT, Josh Everett the list goes on. That WOD left people writhing in pain and repairing their hands.

On a completely different subject, the word Trillion has been in the news often lately. Have you ever wondered what a Trillion dollars looks like? I came across this interesting little illustration on what 1 Trillion dollars would actually look like. Head over to Pagetutor.com for an excellent visual. I have not checked out the rest of that site so I do not know if they are affiliated or support any political party.

There really is nothing quite like a bout of Tag-Team Jiu Jitsu. Cia Paulista Black Belt Felipe Lattari has one of the best half guards around and his bag of tricks seems like it is full of awesome techniques and training methods. Contact info@crossfitnsc for more info on our Jiu Jitsu and MMA programs.

Workout: For Time
7 - rounds
5 - 1 1/2x BW Deadlifts
7 - dips
9 - wall balls
Do not rush the DL’s, although the workout is for time, proper form is paramount when deadlifting. If proper form cannot be maintained throughout the lift, lighten the load. Allow for a reset of the starting position each time the bar touches the ground.
