I have been doing CrossFit for more than 5 years, and training people for about 1.5 years.
CrossFit has been instrumental in my daily life, not only on a physical fitness level but on mental level as well. To finish the work outs you must be mentally strong and for me that has crossed over into my day to day work and play. I feel extremely lucky to be a part of the CrossFit community and to be able to work/work-out with all the great trainers and clients at CrossFit NSC.
Currently, I am active in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA both done here at CrossFit NSC, in the past I have participated in many sports such as Rugby, Football, Soccer, Wrestling, Volleyball and Track.
I really enjoy working with motivated clients who set goals and have fun. It’s great to see progression that the individual may not notice and point it out how far they have come since they first started.

Robin’s dedication to excellence as a trainer definitely shows when you take a look at her qualifications. She is a Level II Certified CrossFit Trainer plus a Certified CrossFit Kids Trainer. She has also worked under the guidance of Mark Rippetoe earning a Barbell Training Certification and with Coach Burgner to earn an Olympic Lift Training Certification. To round that out she has served as a trainer at various CrossFit Certification Seminars and as an Event Judge at the first CrossFit 2007 Games. Daily, she can be found at CrossFit NSC coaching clients through the grueling WODs, training her private clients, or corporate clients in private group settings.
Robin has been athletic her whole life. She’s been a horse-person, a runner on track teams, half marathons, relays and a solo runner with her dog Chloe. She’s performed manual labor, played on basketball teams, and she’s a super mom! Her newest sports are surfing and stand up MMA. Somehow, with all of that to do, she found CrossFit and hit fitness at a different level. CrossFit made Robin want to share what she learned about fitness, so she became a trainer; where she and her husband, some great CrossFit friends, they opened another CrossFit training facility: CrossFit North Santa Cruz.
As a CrossFit Trainer, she is constantly dedicated to helping her clients build themselves up. She’ll tell you that CrossFit is about developing strength, maintaining fitness, building endurance, making physical changes, setting and reaching goals, and having fun with new and old friends.
You will be taught how to do things you might not have thought you could do, or she’ll help you
improve on your already awesome physical accomplishments. Robin will adapt any tough-but-fun CrossFit workout to meet your needs and abilities. If you show up, you will improve. Robin’s goal for her clients is to build fully functioning, fit people who know how to use and love their bodies.
She works with private clients, corporate team building fitness, and team sports strength and conditioning.
Come check it out!
My personal thanks go out to: Annie Sakamoto, Lani Lau, Tony Budding and Nicole from the original CFHQ who originally trained me with loving, patient and tough guidance. Also, CFNSC wouldn’t be here without the dream from Jason and Susie. I Love you all, and thanks for bringing me into the CF family! —Boosie Girl

Jason, (a.k.a. “J-Dogg”), has over 10 years experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Performance-Nutrition Consultant and over 10 years of CrossFit experience. Jason was personally mentored by Greg “Coach” Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, and thus has a rather unique perspective of having intimately witnessed CrossFit’s evolution from the beginning, back before there ever was a “crossfit.com”, a “CrossFit Certification” or a “CrossFit Affiliate Program”. He is an “Original CrossFit’er” who has spent a great deal of time studying and honing his craft.
Jason has worked with an extensive scope of athletes and abilities. He has trained clients as young as 4 and as old as 90, ranging from those who have never stepped foot in a gym, to “weekend warriors”, to expectant mothers, to Professional athletes, MIL, LEO and Firefighters who’s lives and livelihoods depend on their health, fitness and ability to perform under duress. He has helped clients rehab a variety of injuries, ranging from common athletic back, knee, shoulder, ankle, wrist and elbow injuries, to patellar-femoral syndrome and hip-replacement surgery, to those recovering from horrific accidents.
Jason is also well known amongst the community for personally donating countless hours of his time every year to clients and athletes with special circumstances, such as “at-risk” youth, those recovering from violent car accidents, charity events raising money for families stricken with cancer, and scholarship programs for young athletes.
While Jason’s background and experience is quite broad and inclusive, his specialty is working with, mentoring, and developing serious competitive athletes in all sports and professions who are striving for athletic dominance. He has competitive clients in Junior High, High-School, D-1A Collegiate, and Professional ranks, including NFL, MLB, and MMA.
“My service and commitment to my clients is what fuels my existence. I love what I do. I am very driven to help improve the lives of my clients, not only in their sport/profession and pursuit of athletic dominance, but in their lives as a whole.” –Jason “J-Dogg” Highbarger

I had my first CrossFit workout in August of 2007 and was immediately hooked. The more I learned about it the more I liked it. I play baseball year around and I enjoy all types of sports whenever I get the chance. The friendly competition you get everyday at CrossFit has made it one of my favorite things to do. I have not been training for very long but I have learned from many of the best trainers out there. I primarily train High School athletes but I would love to work with people of all ages and fitness levels. See you at CrossFit!

I have led a very physical life. I have been working in the construction industry since I was old enough to swing a hammer. In my high school and college days I competed in football, soccer, track and baseball. Currently, in addition to Crossfit, I coach girls softball, enjoy water sports, snowboarding, scuba diving and mountain biking. I have always been very competitive at what ever I do. I can’t really seem to do anything without trying to be the best at it.
When I was first introduced to Crossfit I was hooked immediately. Here was a “sport” that is exercise. Or is it exercise that is a sport? Either way you look at it, Crossfit has gotten me into the best shape of my life, and that’s at age 45. This is thanks to all the great trainers at the three Santa Cruz Crossfit’s. We are definitely blessed with the best around here and it is evident in all the great athletes that come out of these gyms.
I love working with new people and helping them learn and adapt to the Crossfit movements and intensity. At my age and with my background in construction I relate really well with people that feel as if their best days of fitness are behind them. With some consistency and dedication to push oneself Crossfit will turn you into the athlete you never thought you could be.
